Cannes Film Festival organizers announced on Wednesday the re-election of German Iris Knobloch as the president of the festival for a three-year term, lasting until June 30, 2028. The French association of the festival stated that she was unanimously elected, succeeding the French Pierre Lescure.
Iris Knobloch, 61, who holds a law degree, began her professional career at Warner Studios, where she was responsible for activities in France and Europe. She expressed her happiness to continue her mission at the Cannes Festival, emphasizing her commitment to developing the festival as a platform that promotes equality and supports women’s issues.
The association added that Knobloch is deeply committed to European values and is dedicated to promoting cinema globally, while supporting diversity and innovation in the creative sectors.
