UNRWA Commits to Continuing Operations in Palestine Despite Israeli Ban

At a time when Gaza has officially agreed to a ceasefire, Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner of UNRWA, announced on Wednesday that the agency will continue providing aid despite the Israeli ban set to take effect at the end of January.
Lazzarini confirmed that local staff will continue to provide urgent assistance, including education and basic healthcare.
In the same context, the United Nations announced its readiness to increase aid to Gaza amid security challenges, while the Israeli Knesset passed a law banning UNRWA activities in Israel and East Jerusalem, further complicating the agency’s work in the region.
