The World Health Organization’s representative in the Palestinian territories, Rick Peeperkorn, stated that rebuilding the healthcare system in Gaza will require at least $10 billion over the coming years.

In his statements to foreign media, he mentioned that the preliminary assessment showed that the sector needs more than $3 billion in the first year and a half, while the remaining amount will be secured over the next five to seven years.

Peeperkorn added that Israeli forces deliberately destroyed healthcare facilities in Gaza in an attempt to force the population to leave the area.
