France’s new Prime Minister François Bayrou faces a vote of no confidence in parliament on Thursday.
The vote was requested by the left-wing France Abroad party on Tuesday evening, following Bayrou’s first government statement.
Members of the Green Party have already announced that they will vote against the government. Right-wing nationalists have made it clear that they will not withdraw their support for the government.
If the no-confidence vote goes through, it would mean the collapse of the newly formed centre-right government just before Christmas.
