Colombia’s president suspends negotiations with ELN after deadly clashes

Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced on Friday the suspension of peace negotiations with the rebel National Liberation Army (ELN), following violence that left nearly 30 people dead on the border with Venezuela.

What the ELN has done in the Catatumbo region is a war crime,’ Petro said in a tweet on the X website. That is why we are suspending dialogue with this group, because the ELN shows no willingness to make peace,’ Petro said in a tweet, according to AFP.
