Chinese vice-president meets Vance and Musk

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with US Vice President-elect JD Vance and US business leaders, including Elon Musk, in Washington on the eve of Donald Trump’s inauguration.

President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team said Han Zheng, who is attending the inauguration as a special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping, “discussed a range of issues, including the drug (fentanyl), trade balance and regional stability” with JD Vance, according to the Associated Press.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry statement on Han’s meeting with Vance on Monday said the Chinese presidential envoy had stressed the ‘broad common interests and enormous space for cooperation’ that the US and China share in economic and trade relations, despite ‘some disagreements and frictions’.
