US President Donald Trump signed an executive order late on Monday to withdraw the US from the Paris climate agreement.

During his inauguration speech, Trump, who has long viewed clean energy as expensive and wasteful, vowed to double down on the extraction and use of fossil fuels, adding: ‘We will also declare a national emergency.
The Paris Climate Agreement, adopted in December 2015, is an international effort to address man-made global warming and related crises, to which the US formally acceded in September 2016.
