Just months before the 30th session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), to be held in Belém, Pará State, from 10 to 21 November, Brazil is stepping up its efforts to ensure the success of global climate change negotiations and to promote the Amazon as a destination for sustainable tourism.
A high-level delegation, including 24 UN experts, is currently visiting the host city to review preparations for the global event.
On this occasion, UNFCCC Assistant Executive Secretary Noura Hamlaji praised the commitment of local, regional and federal authorities, as well as the level of investment, estimated at $830 million.
These are essential elements for the success of the conference,” she said after reviewing the figures presented by COP30 Special Secretary-General Walter Correia.
The Brazilian government expects around 100,000 visitors during the two weeks of COP30, almost double the 54,148 participants at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
