Gabon announces presidential election on 12 April

Gabon’s cabinet has announced that presidential elections will be held on 12 April 2025, marking the end of military rule that began with a coup on 30 August 2023.

Minutes of the cabinet meeting released late on Wednesday confirmed the date of the presidential election.

By this decree, the electoral body will meet on Saturday 12 April 2025,” the minutes read.
