In a move reflecting the strengthening of ties between Riyadh and Washington, U.S. President Donald Trump intends to ask Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to increase the kingdom’s investments in the United States to one trillion dollars, after the prince had promised to invest at least 600 billion dollars over the next four years.
During his speech at the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump mentioned that Saudi Arabia would invest 600 billion dollars in the U.S. economy, but he plans to request that this amount be raised to one trillion dollars.
He also stated that he would ask Saudi Arabia and OPEC to reduce oil prices in order to lower energy costs.
These promises came after a phone call between Trump and the Saudi Crown Prince, during which the prince expressed the kingdom’s desire to expand its investments and trade relations with the United States in the coming years.
