Brazil: da Silva elects André Correia do Lago as President of CAP30

Ambassador André Aranha Correia do Lago has been appointed President of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference to be held in Belém in November.

He is Secretary for Climate, Energy and Environment in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will be responsible for leading the negotiations for a global agreement on the issue.

Anna Tunney, National Secretary for Climate Change at the Department of Environment and Climate Change, will serve as COP30 Executive Director.

The announcement was made by Environment Minister Marina Silva and Foreign Minister Maria Laura da Rocha after a meeting with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at the Planalto Palace.
