A powerful winter storm caused significant disruptions in Ireland and Scotland on Friday, as strong winds reaching speeds of 183 kilometers per hour struck large parts of the country, marking the highest winds ever recorded in the region.

The storm, named “Storm Ewan,” caused power outages affecting over 700,000 homes and businesses in Ireland and an additional 100,000 in Northern Ireland.

Schools across Ireland were closed, train services were halted, and hundreds of flights were canceled.
