The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has said that some 660,000 children in Gaza remain out of school, noting that 88 per cent of Gaza’s schools have been destroyed.
In a post on the ‘X’ platform, the UN agency said there are reports that the Israeli war on Gaza has resulted in the deaths of more than 14,500 children in the war.
It is noteworthy that on 28 October 2024, the Israeli Knesset passed a law aimed at ‘preventing any UNRWA activity in the territory of the State of Israel, with the law to enter into force 90 days after its approval’.
