Mexico refuses to receive US plane carrying migrants Washington wants deported

Mexico has rejected a request from US President Donald Trump’s administration to allow a US military plane carrying migrants to be deported from the country to land on its territory, a Mexican official said.

Two US military planes carrying about 80 migrants each left for Guatemala on Friday. But the government was unable to proceed with the third flight to Mexico after the plane was turned back.

Mexico’s foreign ministry said in a statement that Mexico has a ‘very good relationship’ with the United States and has worked together on issues such as migration.

The ministry added: ‘When it comes to deportations, we have always accepted with open arms the arrival of Mexicans in our territory.

The Mexican official gave no reason for refusing to receive the plane, while the foreign ministry made no reference to the incident.
