Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi firmly rejected any displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, in what appeared to be a veiled response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks.

On Sunday, Trump proposed a plan to “cleanse” Gaza, calling on Egypt and Jordan to take in more Palestinians to achieve peace in the Middle East.

Trump highlighted the humanitarian crisis resulting from the Israeli war against Hamas, which has led to the deaths of tens of thousands.
