EU extends sanctions against Russia for 6 months

The European Union decided on Monday to extend economic sanctions against Russia for another 6 months.

This was announced in a post on the ‘X’ platform by the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaija Callas.

Callas said: ‘EU foreign ministers have agreed to extend sanctions against Russia once again.

Extending the sanctions would deprive Moscow of the revenue it needs to finance the war,’ she said.

She added: ‘Russia must pay for the damage it has caused.

The sanctions include a ban on EU countries selling arms to Russia and the exclusion of Russian state banks from the European financial sector.
