Libya Tops List of Major Importers of Russian Grains with 2.5 Million Tons

According to the Russian “Agro Export” Center, Libya imported 2.5 million tons of Russian grains in 2024, making it one of the top 10 countries importing this commodity.
Estimates from “RusAgroTrans” show that the largest importers of Russian grains include Egypt (11.1 million tons), Turkey (7.2 million tons), and Iran (5.6 million tons).
Russian grain exports reached 72 million tons in 2024, with expectations to increase to 75 million tons by 2030.
Libya needs 1.6 million tons of wheat annually and relies on imports due to the weakness of its local agricultural capacity.
