Hamas handed over Israeli soldier Agam Berger to the Red Cross on Thursday, after he was taken out of a building destroyed by Israeli shelling in the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip as part of a ceasefire agreement with Israel.

The handover took place amid a large crowd and heavy deployment of Qassam Brigades operatives in Razan Square in the centre of the Jabalia refugee camp.

Islamic Jihad is expected to hand over hostages Arbel Yehud and Gadi Moussa in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.

This is the third batch of prisoners to be released in the first phase of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
