Donald Trump signed an executive order to convert Guantanamo into a detention center for 30,000 undocumented migrants, alongside a law allowing the detention of crime suspects before trial.

Meanwhile, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel condemned the plan, calling it a “brutal act” and a violation of international law, as Washington faces human rights criticism over detention conditions.

Trump continues to fulfill his pledges to tighten immigration policies and speed up deportations, as 11 million undocumented migrants reside in the United States.
