The Israeli authorities released 183 Palestinian prisoners from its jails on Saturday in the fourth instalment of the prisoner exchange deal as part of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas.
Palestinian sources said the Israeli authorities handed over the released prisoners to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The released prisoners are divided into 150 prisoners from Gaza, including those serving life and heavy sentences or arrested after 7 October, 32 prisoners from the West Bank, also serving life and heavy sentences, and one prisoner of Egyptian nationality who will be returned to his country.
Specialist teams from the Palestinian Authority governorates of Ramallah and al-Bireh received the prisoners from the Red Cross and transferred them to a medical centre in the city centre.
The release came after Hamas handed over the fourth batch of Israeli prisoners held by Hamas this morning.
