The French government, led by François Bayrou, is facing a new test this week that could lead to its downfall with a vote of no confidence in the National Assembly, after successfully retaining parliamentary confidence last month.

Bayrou intends to use paragraph 3 of Article 49 of the Constitution to pass the 2025 budget, which will prompt a motion of no confidence from the majority of leftist parties.

The vote on the no-confidence motion is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, with particular attention on the vote from the Socialist Party, to which Bayrou has made some concessions.
