Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa will pay an official visit to Turkey on Tuesday at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The head of the Turkish presidency’s communications department, Fahrettin Altun, announced in a Facebook post on Monday that al-Sharaa would visit Turkey on Tuesday in response to Erdogan’s invitation.

Last Wednesday, the new Syrian government announced the appointment of al-Sharaa as the country’s interim president, along with other decisions including the dissolution of the armed factions and security services of the previous era, the People’s Assembly, the Baath Party and the annulment of the previous constitution.
