US President Donald Trump has announced the suspension of all future funding to South Africa, claiming that the country is ‘seizing land and mistreating certain groups’.
In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, Trump described the situation in South Africa as ‘very bad’ and blamed the ‘far-left media’ for not highlighting the issue.
He said South Africa was seizing land and claimed there were ‘gross human rights violations against some groups in the country’.
Trump insisted that the US would not tolerate this situation and would take action in response.
In January, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa passed a law allowing the government to expropriate land in the public interest without compensation in certain circumstances.
