A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck on Wednesday morning off the northern Maluku Islands in Indonesia, according to the Indonesian geophysics agency.

The quake occurred at a depth of 81 kilometers under the sea, with no tsunami threat reported.

So far, there have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries, and the disaster mitigation agency has not issued any official comments.

Indonesia, located on the “Ring of Fire,” experiences frequent earthquakes and commemorates the 20th anniversary of the devastating 2004 tsunami last December.
