Somali authorities announced today that Somali counter-terrorism forces carried out a military operation in Puntland state in the Ali Meskad mountains in the Bari region of north-eastern Somalia, killing about 40 ISIS fighters and wounding others, the Somali News Agency (SUNA) reported, citing officers who led the military operation.

Most of those killed in the operation were foreign ISIS fighters, the agency said, adding that Somali forces are now in control of all the locations affected by the military operation.
