Google, the tech giant, has announced an update to its ethical policy to include the use of artificial intelligence under “international law and human rights.”

The company has abandoned its previous commitment not to use artificial intelligence in weapons or surveillance.

In the previous version of the “AI Principles,” Google pledged not to develop technologies that could cause public harm, including weapons and surveillance that violate “internationally accepted standards.”
