On Friday evening, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced that it would release 3 Israeli prisoners on Saturday as part of the fifth batch of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and the Israeli occupation.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club and the Palestinian Authority’s Commission of Detainees reported that the number of Palestinian prisoners involved is 183, including 18 serving life sentences and 54 with long-term sentences, as well as 111 detainees from Gaza after October 7, 2023.
This move comes amid intensified international efforts aimed at calming the situation in the Gaza Strip and reaching an agreement for a permanent ceasefire.
