Lebanon’s new Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, has formed the first complete government since 2022.
President Joseph Aoun announced in a statement the acceptance of the previous government’s resignation and the signing of the decree to form the new government.
Salam’s cabinet consisted of 24 ministers, equally distributed between Christian and Islamic sects, and was established less than a month after his appointment.
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam pledged to be the head of a government of “reform and rescue” in Lebanon, committing to work on rebuilding “trust” with the international community.
This move comes as Lebanon seeks to rebuild the southern areas affected by the war between the Israeli occupation and Hezbollah while maintaining security along the southern borders.
