US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he had appointed Elon Musk as head of the Office of Government Efficiency to review the Pentagon’s proposed $850 billion budget for the current year.

The new role comes despite American objections to giving a key role to Musk, who is seen by some as controlling much of the Trump administration.

Musk has faced accusations from the Democratic Party of an unconstitutional power grab in the United States.
