The United States has rejected Israel’s request to postpone the withdrawal deadline from Lebanon, with an American official stating that the administration plans to adhere to the February 18 deadline.
This follows a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, which allows for a 60-day withdrawal period.
In return, Hezbollah must withdraw from the area south of the Litani River and dismantle any remaining military structures
.
Israel had until January 26 to withdraw its forces but insisted on staying longer, claiming that Lebanon had not fully implemented the agreement.
