The New York State Department of Health announced on Tuesday the first case of a new strain of monkeypox, raising global concerns.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are three confirmed cases in the United States, including California, Georgia, and New Hampshire, linked to the sub-strain.

In August, the World Health Organization declared monkeypox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern for the second time in two years.
