A report from the Committee to Protect Journalists revealed that 2024 witnessed the highest number of journalists killed in its history, with 124 journalists and media workers killed, including 85 in conflict areas between Israel and Gaza.
The committee pointed out that wars and political and military conflicts have doubled in the last five years, leading to a rise in fatalities in other regions such as Sudan, Pakistan, Mexico, and Syria.
In related remarks, the committee emphasized that the lack of journalists threatens the flow of information and makes it difficult to achieve accountability, which negatively impacts press freedom.
