UK to amend sanctions on Syria

The UK has announced that it will amend its sanctions on Syria following the collapse of al-Assad’s rule, ensuring that asset freezes and travel bans on former government figures remain in place.

We are making these changes to help the Syrian people rebuild their country and promote security and stability,’ said Stephen Doughty, Minister for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories, in a statement. They include easing restrictions on the energy, transport and financial sectors, and provisions to continue to support the delivery of humanitarian aid.
