Cuba: Education and work suspended due to lack of electricity

The Cuban government has announced the suspension of education and non-essential work for two days due to a lack of electricity.

Due to the complexity of the energy situation in the country, and in order to contribute to the provision of electricity, it has been decided to suspend educational activities and non-essential work in the current circumstances for the next two days, 14 and 15 February,’ the ministry said in a statement.

Last November, Cuba suffered blackouts due to a controlled shutdown of the national power grid due to the threat of Hurricane Rafael.
