Saudi Arabia welcomes Trump-Putin summit

Saudi Arabia yesterday welcomed the possibility of holding the upcoming summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kingdom.

This came after Trump announced after a phone call with Putin last Wednesday that they would hold their first meeting in Saudi Arabia, with the participation of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, while Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that preparations for it could take several months, but the two sides agreed that Riyadh was the appropriate place, according to the Russian agency ‘Interfax’.

In a foreign ministry statement, Saudi Arabia praised the phone call between the US and Russian presidents and stressed that it would continue its efforts to achieve lasting peace between Moscow and Kiev.
