UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized on Sunday the necessity for the international community to unite in halting the flow of arms and funding the conflict in Sudan, which has resulted in thousands of deaths and the displacement of 12 million people.
In this context, Guterres stressed the immediate need to cease hostilities, noting that external military support contributes to the continuation of the war.
He also announced the launch of the 2025 humanitarian response plan, which requires approximately $6 billion to assist 21 million people within Sudan and 5 million refugees in neighboring countries.
