Putin-Trump meeting may take place at the end of this month, Kremlin says

A possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump could take place by the end of February, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

He made the remarks in a statement to reporters in Moscow on Wednesday, commenting on talks between Russian and US delegations in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Tuesday.

Peskov noted that the talks between the two delegations were aimed at improving relations between Russia and the United States and creating the necessary conditions for this.

He noted that both sides have shown political will to improve relations and that a lot of work remains to be done.

It is too early to talk about the results of the talks, he said, adding that the important thing is to revive and restore relations between the two countries.

He explained that Putin had been briefed on the results of the consultations and that Moscow would nominate its representative in the negotiations to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, after Washington had taken a similar step.
