On Friday, the Spanish maritime rescue service evacuated a boat carrying 62 migrants to the port of “La Restinga” on El Hierro Island after authorities received a signal regarding the boat’s presence in nearby waters.

According to a spokesperson for the emergency services, were 62 people on board, including seven children and seven women.

The boat was located using radar echoes from the Spanish Civil Guard, approximately five miles south of the port of “La Restinga.”
