Heavy rains in Peru have caused devastating floods and landslides, particularly in rural areas like Nazca.

The Aja River overflowed, flooding agricultural lands and sweeping away homes, while bridge collapses isolated residents, leaving many stranded in the rising waters.

Firefighters rushed to rescue those trapped, but many farmers initially refused to leave their homes for fear of looters, ultimately having to flee as water levels rose dangerously.

In response to this disaster, authorities declared a state of emergency in 157 provinces as heavy rains continued to cause further destruction.
