Clashes erupted in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, between police and nationalist protesters demanding the government cancel its plans to join the Eurozone.

Around 1,000 demonstrators gathered outside the European Commission’s office, where they threw red paint and firecrackers at the building, resulting in a fire being set at one of the doors.

Police reported that several protesters were arrested, and some officers were injured during the clashes.
