The Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, on Wednesday announced the names of four Israeli prisoners whose bodies it will release tonight.
This is part of the eighth and final instalment of the first phase of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.
Al-Qassam spokesman Abu Obeida said in a statement that the brigades ‘decided to hand over the bodies of four Zionist prisoners this evening, namely: Itzahi Eidan, Itzik al-Jarit, Ohad Yehlomi and Shlomo Mansour’.
The first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement was launched on 19 January 2025 and included three phases, each lasting 42 days, with the requirement that the next phase be negotiated before the current phase was completed.
This phase included the release of 33 Israeli prisoners, alive and dead, as the Palestinian factions have already released 25 live prisoners and 4 bodies in 7 batches, in exchange for Israel’s release of 1,135 Palestinian prisoners, including dozens serving life sentences.
