Sources from Hamas announced on Wednesday that they will transfer four Israeli hostages’ remains on Thursday in exchange for the release of more than 600 Palestinians.
In a related development, an Egyptian source confirmed that mediators have reached an agreement for the release of Palestinian detainees, scheduled for Saturday, alongside the handover of the remains of four Israeli hostages, under Egyptian supervision.
Later, the “Al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades,” an armed faction allied with Hamas, stated that they would release the remains of one Israeli hostage on Thursday, as part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement brokered by Egypt, which includes prisoner exchanges.
Hamas also confirmed its commitment to the terms of the ceasefire agreement, despite delays in the release of Palestinian detainees due to disagreements with Israel over the handover. Israel is considering extending the first phase of the ceasefire.
