At least five people were killed and over 20 others injured in a bombing inside the Haqqania University Mosque, a major religious institution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, northwestern Pakistan.
The explosion occurred during midday prayers, when the mosque was crowded with worshippers. Initial security reports suggest that an explosive device was planted inside the mosque. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
Authorities immediately sealed off the area, and the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, with some reported to be in critical condition.
This attack comes amid a surge in violence in Pakistan, where security forces frequently clash with militant groups. The Pakistani government has vowed to intensify security operations to track down those responsible and ensure public safety.
