The official Syrian news agency SANA reported on Tuesday that two members of the Syrian Defence Ministry were killed in Latakia province in an armed ambush carried out by what it described as ‘remnants of militias’.

SANA quoted a security source as saying that the attack took place in the al-Daatour neighbourhood of the city of Latakia, where the armed groups killed the two personnel.

The source added that the Internal Security Department has launched an extensive security campaign in the neighbourhood and surrounding areas to arrest the attackers and bring them to justice.
