The Egyptian plan charts a new political and security path in Gaza and includes the reconstruction of the Strip according to specific stages,’ Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said at a press conference.
The Egyptian plan, after its adoption by the summit, has become an Arab plan that maintains the link between the West Bank and Gaza and represents a realistic alternative for the reconstruction of Gaza without displacing the people of Gaza,’ he added.
The summit’s final declaration stresses the priority of completing the ceasefire, which is under great strain, and calls on the Security Council to deploy international peacekeepers in the West Bank and Gaza,’ he said.
