Authorities in Bucharest have arrested six citizens on charges of treason and espionage in favor of Russia, as well as organizing a paramilitary group with support from Moscow, following the expulsion of the Russian military attaché and his deputy from Romania.

The Romanian Intelligence Service stated that the detainees established a paramilitary entity in 2023, aiming to influence the social and political landscape in the country while seeking support from the Russian embassy.
