Canada Prepares to Select New Prime Minister After Trudeau’s Resignation

The ruling party in Canada is preparing to select former banker Mark Carney to succeed Justin Trudeau as prime minister following his resignation.
This comes at a critical time as Carney faces significant challenges with the United States, particularly Donald Trump’s trade attacks on Canada.
Carney, with his crisis management experience, enjoys widespread support, boosting his chances of winning, while his main competitor, Chrystia Freeland, seems to have slim chances after her disagreements with Trudeau.
As a result, the upcoming elections in October may see fiercer competition than expected.
However, there are possibilities that the elections could take place sooner, which would heighten the competition and put more pressure on the country’s new leadership.
