The Philippines deports Duterte to appear before the International Criminal Court in The Hague

The Philippine authorities deported former President Rodrigo Duterte to The Hague yesterday after arresting him in Manila based on an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court on charges of crimes against humanity during his war on drug dealers.
This makes Duterte the first former president in Asia to appear before the court. Human rights organizations indicate that security forces killed tens of thousands of poor people without providing evidence of them committing drug-related crimes.
