The Beijing Municipal Education Commission has announced that artificial intelligence (AI) education will be introduced in all primary, middle, and high schools starting in the fall semester of 2025.
This initiative is part of the “Action Plan for Enhancing AI Education in Schools (2025-2027)”, aimed at equipping students with advanced skills in AI. According to the plan, elementary schools will offer introductory courses to familiarize young students with basic AI concepts. Middle schools will provide knowledge-based courses to help students understand AI applications in daily life. Meanwhile, high schools will introduce comprehensive and practical courses to develop students’ innovative abilities.
Additionally, universities, research institutions, and tech companies will be encouraged to establish specialized laboratories and interactive learning spaces for school students, fostering hands-on experience and technical skill development.
This initiative is seen as a strategic move to strengthen China’s position in advanced technology and prepare future generations for the digital economy.
