Lebanon Heads Toward a New Agreement with the IMF

Lebanese Finance Minister, Yassine Jaber, stated on Wednesday that a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is in the works following his meeting with the IMF delegation. He described the meeting with the head of the delegation, Ernesto Ramirez Rigo, as excellent and clear.
In this context, Jaber affirmed the Lebanese government’s determination to implement necessary reforms, stressing that these reforms are essential not due to external pressure, but for the country’s own benefit.
He added in his remarks that the government will devise a new plan with the IMF, which will include appointing a new governor for the central bank. The IMF is expected to return to Lebanon in April if the new governor is appointed.
